Wasps team to play Worcester Warriors

Director of Rugby Dai Young has named his side to face Worcester Warriors at the Ricoh Arena in Round 2 of the Anglo Welsh Cup on Sunday 13 November, kick off 3pm.

Wasps are boosted by the addition of Joe Simpson, James Gaskell and Thomas Young to the starting XV, as well as starts for Senior Academy players Piers O’Conor, Tom Howe and Tom West.

There are also notable additions on the bench, with Ashley Johnson and Dan Robson included among the replacements. New loan signing Ben Harris also makes his first appearance in a matchday teamsheet, named among the substitutes.

Ahead of the game, Dai Young said: “Although we were disappointed not to come away with the result last weekend, it was encouraging to see a number of good individual performances.

“That result last weekend puts a bit of added importance on today’s game if we want to progress in this competition. We always want to win games, but especially so at home. This group of players have worked really hard to build a formidable home record and, whatever competition we are playing in, that is something we are very proud of.

“Sunday’s game is no different and the players will want to keep hold of that home form with a good performance against a strong Worcester Warriors side, who showed just how dangerous they can be with a good win over what was close to a Bristol first-choice team last weekend.”
