Team News for Bristol Rugby vs Exeter Chiefs

Ryan Edwards

Ryan Edwards returns from a hernia injury to start in the backline when Bristol Rugby travel to Exeter Chiefs on Saturday (3pm KO).

The winger – who has been absent since December – is one of three changes to the starting line-up, as Gavin Henson returns from a toe injury and Jack Tovey is included.

Marc Jones captains the side from the front row, while Academy utility forward Sam Jeffries retains his place in the back row.

“It’s a massive challenge that awaits us at Sandy Park on Saturday. Exeter are an excellent side and deservedly one of the top sides in the league. We have to go with positivity and energy and attack them from the kick-off,” Head Coach Mark Tainton said.

“We go to Exeter with the belief that we can win and that’s the attitude we will take into the game this weekend – it’s vital we deliver a performance in front of our travelling supporters something to cheer about.”

Academy centre James Newey is named among the replacements and could make his Premiership debut on Saturday.
