Steve Diamond has said that Friday’s Aviva Premiership game against Northampton Saints is a must-win game for his side.
The Sharks head into the game following a defeat to reigning champions Saracens at Allianz Park, but are unbeaten at home in their last four games at home in all competitions.
They face a Northampton side, who won last weekend, and are looking to maintain their push for a Top Six spot.
Speaking to the media this week, Diamond said: “We need to win the game against the Saints at the weekend. If we do win the game we will be among the gang above us in the table.
“It will be difficult for us to get sixth or seventh in the table, but we’ve got to aim for that, that’s the job in hand.”
Diamond also confirmed the news that Will Addison has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, with a broken bone in his toe.
Earlier in the week, the club announced the signing of Scottish international Josh Strauss, and Diamond reflected on this: “Anyone who watches rugby knows, that he’s a big abrasive lad, a good carrier, and an established international.
“It’s a big statement for us, and the right sort of signing. He’s industrious, hard-working, and a big ball-carrier, which is what we were looking for.”
