Shane Geraghty to join Bristol Rugby

Shane Geraghty will join Bristol Rugby from London Irish with immediate effect.

The fly half – who has six international caps for England – returns to the city having spent two years with Colston’s School between 2002 and 2004.

With Tusi Pisi sidelined for up to four months with a groin injury and Callum Sheedy (hamstring), Adrian Jarvis (calf) and Gavin Henson (dead leg) currently unavailable, Andy Robinson has bolstered his fly half options with the arrival of the 30 year-old.

“Shane brings with him a knowledge of top-level rugby and an understanding of the rigours and demands of Premiership rugby,” Director of Rugby Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“He can play at fly half and inside centre, has a good kicking percentage and has the ability to create opportunities through his distribution and footwork.

“Shane comes into the squad on Monday and we are confident he can add something to us, especially in an area where we are short of players at the moment.”

A graduate of the London Irish Academy, Geraghty has represented Northampton Saints, Brive and England at U21s and Saxons level.

He added: “I’m pleased to be joining Bristol Rugby and I’m looking forward to working hard and contributing where I can.

“I know just how tough it is to be competitive in the Aviva Premiership, but all the right ingredients are there for the Club to be successful.

“I’d like to thank London Irish for their continued support and I’m now excited about this opportunity and working with Andy [Robinson] and the team here.”
