Scrum Half Young rejoins Newcastle Falcons

MickyYoung-Bath15

Newcastle Falcons are delighted to announce that Micky Young will join the playing roster at Kingston Park for the 2015/2016 season on a two year deal, returning to the club after stints with Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby.

The 26 year old from Hartlepool first represented the Falcons as a member of the victorious Middlesex 7s side in 2007 before going on to make his first team debut in 2008.

Across three full seasons, the scrum half made a total of 79 appearances making a name for himself as a sniping scrum half who played the game at a fast tempo.

An adept sevens player, Young has also represented England on the HSBC Sevens series circuit with a notable achievement being his try at the 2009 London event which won the final against New Zealand at a packed Twickenham Stadium.

Sevens is not the only experience of the red rose for the former Brierton Comprehensive pupil as Young represented England Saxons during the summer Churchill Cups including the final edition of the tournament in 2011.

Speaking on his new signing, Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “We’re delighted to have signed Micky and look forward to welcoming him back in the summer.”

“He is very much an example of where we want to be with talented players from the area playing for the club and we are looking forward to seeing him develop in the side.”

Micky Young said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity to come back to Newcastle. It is a massive opportunity for me and from speaking to Dean and a few of the guys who are still at the club from when I was there, the ambition of the club is awesome and I’m excited to be part of a set up out to do big things.”

“Everything about the club is positive, from the style of play to the investment in things like the new pitch and I just hope I can use some of the experience I’ve gained in the last four years to make a really positive contribution to the club’s future.”
