Saracens name team to face Gloucester

Saracens have named their team to face Gloucester Rugby in round one of the Anglo-Welsh Cup at Kingsholm Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 15h00.

Prop forward Vincent Koch will be one of six debutants named in the starting line-up for the Men in Black. The South African international will run out for his first Saracens appearance alongside hooker Scott Spurling and loosehead Richard Barrington in the Saracens front-row.

At lock, England U20s second row Nick Isikewe will make his Saracens debut alongside Mark Flanagan. In the back row, Kelly Brown will skipper the side from openside flanker alongside Joel Conlon (blindside flanker) and No8 Samu Vunisa.

In the halves, Ben Spencer will wear the number nine jersey and will dovetail with academy playmaker Tom Whiteley who starts at fly-half. In the centre, Tom Griffiths will make his Saracens debut against his home-town side and will be partnered in the midfield by England Saxons’ Nick Tompkins.

In the back three, Andrew Fenby will make his Saracens bow from full-back alongside Matt Gallagher (left wing) and Mike Ellery (right wing).

On the bench, academy back rowers Jack Nay and Ben Earl could make their Saracens debuts from the bench, as could scrumhalf Henry Taylor. Wing Nathan Earle is also named in the Saracens matchday 23 after returning from his loan in New Zealand.
