Sale Sharks Team News

Josh Charnley

Sale Sharks have named their side to take on Saracens in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday (kick off 2.45pm)  at Allianz Park.

Steve Diamond has made just the one change to the starting line up that beat Wasps at the AJ Bell Stadium last weekend. Josh Charnley returns to the starting XV for the first time since the side’s victory in the European Rugby Champions Cup against Scarlets on 21st January. He replaces Byron McGuigan on the wing.

Ross Harrison will be making his 100th Premiership appearance for the side at the age of 24.

On the replacements bench, David Seymour takes the place of Ben Curry who is on international duty with England U20s.

Sale Sharks:

15. Mike Haley
14. Denny Solomona
13. Will Addison (c)
12. Mark Jennings
11. Josh Charnley
10. Sam James
9. Mike Phillips

1. Ross Harrison
2. Rob Webber
3. Halani Aulika
4. Bryn Evans
5. George Nott
6. TJ Ioane
7. Magnus Lund
8. Josh Beaumont

16. Cameron Neild
17. James Flynn
18. Kieran Longbottom
19. Tom Curry
20. David Seymour
21. Peter Stringer
22. AJ MacGinty
23. Johnny Leota

Ahead of the game, Diamond said: “Against Wasps, although we were great in attack, we weren’t great in defence, in fact we were poor. We gave away a few soft tries, so we’re been working on that this week. The lads are motivated to finish as high as we can by the end of the season. We always get a good hiding at Saracens, so the challenge is to leave with some self-respect. I think there is no better time to play them, but they are a formidable team to play at home, they’ve got a massive squad, and will be looking to get back to winning ways.”
