Rogers joins Newcastle Falcons on two year deal

Newcastle Falcons are please to confirm the signing of Alex Rogers into the club’s squad, following his impressive performances last year when dual registered with Blaydon RFC.

The 28 year old moved to the National League One side from French club Lille last season after registering to study at Northumbria University and was invited to train alongside the Falcons.
 
Featuring 19 times across the season, five of which were starts, Rogers acquitted himself well in a pack that impressed with its power and technique and has earned a full time Falcons contract of the back of those performances.
 
Dean Richards said: "With Alex studying at university and playing locally last season, it gave us a chance to keep an eye on and try out a player I knew from Harlequins and I thought he did well for us when he played.”

"Coming into the side on a full time basis, he will play a key part of our plans for the season ahead.”
 
The Loosehead Prop began his rugby career with Harlequins, where he was a member of the club's Academy system from the age of 13 and has also played in the Middle East with Abu Dhabi Harlequins and in Australia with Western Subiaco.
 
Hailing from Eastbourne, the former England Under 18s, Under 19s and Under 21s international lists two age level grand slams in two years, a winning cup final appearance for Abu Dhabi Harlequins against Bahrain and his Newcastle Falcons debut amongst his career highlights to date.
 
Speaking about his new deal, Rogers said: "It's great to change the loan agreement into a permanent deal. I played a few games for Newcastle last year, certainly more than I expected and enjoyed the experience.”
 
"I'm joining three quality loose heads so there is going to be a challenge to try and break into but it's one I am looking forward too.”
 
"The direction the club is going means it's really exciting times to be involved.”
