Robbie Nairn to join Harlequins Academy

Harlequins can announce today, (Thursday 26th March) that current Scotland U18 winger Robbie Nairn will join the award winning Harlequins Academy next season after signing with the London club.

The six foot three wing, who has previously excelled in Athletic Track and Field events, was educated at Currie Community High School in Scotland where he won the Edinburgh & District League and Cup in the 2011/12 season.

Following this, Nairn went on to represent Scotland at U16 level and is currently involved in the U18 setup; the 18 year-old will play for Scotland U18s this Friday against France U18s.

Sporting excellence runs in his family; Robbie’s father played Youth Rugby for Boroughmuir, while his mother competed in the Long Jump for Scotland.

Known for his strong running style and solid physique, Robbie will be a valuable asset to the Harlequins Academy setup.

Commenting on the announcement, Nairn said: "I’m hugely excited about joining Harlequins. I know it will be a real challenge but I’m very much looking forward to pushing myself to meet the high standards set by the senior team and doing everything I can to develop myself in key areas.

"It’s a great opportunity for me to improve my skills and understanding of the game, especially in an environment where I’ll be learning from some of the best players in the Aviva Premiership. Being able to commit to rugby at such a high level is what I have been working towards for a long time."

Harlequins Academy Manager, Tony Diprose, added: "I am delighted to have Robbie joining us in the Harlequins Academy next season. He is a very talented and ambitious young player with the attitude and desire to be the best he can be. We look forward to helping him achieve his goals here at Quins."
