Premiership Rugby clubs in live European TV action

European rugby returns with a bang this weekend and all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs are in action across both the European Rugby Champions and Challenge Cups.

Last season’s champions of Europe, Saracens, are in action on Saturday, but Leicester Tigers get us underway in the Champions Cup on Friday night.

Richard Cockerill’s side head north to take on Glasgow Warriors in front of the BT Sport cameras kicking off at 7.45pm – the first time these two sides have met since way back in 2001.

Staying in the Champions Cup and four Premiership Rugby sides are in action on Saturday – last year’s semi-finalists Wasps kick off the day against Zebre at 1pm on Sky Sports.

These two sides have never met before in Europe and while Wasps’ home record at the Ricoh Arena is impressive, Zebre won three of their six games in the Challenge Cup last year and are no pushovers.

At 3.15pm on BT Sport, defending champions Saracens head to the Stade Felix Mayol to take on a Toulon side that lost their crown last season after three wins in a row.

The two sides have met twice before in Europe with Toulon taking the spoils in both the 2012-13 semi-final and the 2013-14 final, but Mark McCall’s Saracens have won their last five games against French opposition.

At 5.30pm on Sky Sports, Northampton Saints host Montpellier – the first meeting of these two sides in the Champions Cup.

Saints did the double over Montpellier in the Challenge Cup back in 2008-09 but the French side are now the defending Challenge Cup champions, and Saints have not beaten a Top 14 side in their last five attempts.

At 7.45pm on BT Sport, Sale Sharks head to Wales to take on Scarlets.

Scarlets have lost their last eight Champions Cup games, but Steve Diamond’s Sharks have only won one of their last six trips to Wales, so something will surely give on Saturday night.

Finally in the Champions Cup, Exeter Chiefs lock horns with rivals ASM Clermont Auvergne on Sunday afternoon. The game will be live on BT Sport kicking off at 5.30pm.

These two sides have met four times already in Chiefs’ short European history – with the French powerhouses winning three out of four. But despite that favourable record Clermont went out at the Pool stage last year as Chiefs snuck through during the last round of pool games.

The Challenge Cup gets underway on Thursday on Sky Sports as Harlequins, runners up in this competition last year, welcome Stade Francais to south-west London kicking off at 7.45pm.

This will be the fifth meeting between the clubs in the Challenge Cup. Stade Francais won the first two games in 2002, while Harlequins have taken the spoils in the most recent two matches, the 2011 final and 2014 quarter-final.
