Mitchell Excited Ahead Of Singha Premiership Rugby 7’s

Sale Sharks 7’s captain James Mitchell says he can’t wait to play at Kingston Park on Saturday, when he takes part in the Singha 7’s Premiership Rugby Series.

Mitchell captains a young and exciting Sharks side, and was one of the standout players at last year's event.

He said: "I'm looking forward to the tournament. We've got a really good squad going out there, a really young and enthusiastic one so that'll be really good.

"We will take it step by step. We'll look to win our first game then qualify through to Finals Day next Sunday. It will be a really good experience to get to the Ricoh and play in front of a big crowd that will be good for young lads but one step at a time first. We've got a tough test on Saturday against Newcastle, Leicester and Worcester.

"I love playing 7's. I love the atmosphere and the speed of the game – it's my kind of game so I always get excited for it.”

He added: "It does massively help us as a squad as we are going to play together now and in the A League. We will all be playing together there so it helps getting these games in early helping the team cohesion.”

Mitchell earmarked a few of his fellow teammates to look out for: "Keep an eye out for the Curry Twins, I think they'll be really useful and great to watch. Sam Bedlow should be good and also, we've got a new lad called Curtis Langdon. He seems good around the park, and I've heard a lot about him and I think he will be a good addition to our squad.”
