Live rugby on seven different days over Christmas & New Year

PremRugbyBalls-WP

Premiership Rugby today announces that Harlequins’ annual trip to Twickenham Stadium will be shown live on BT Sport as the broadcaster confirms a bumper line-up of matches over the Christmas and New Year period.

Harlequins’ match with Gloucester Rugby will be staged on Tuesday 27 December (4pm) which means there will be live Aviva Premiership Rugby on four different days over the Christmas weekend.

The live Christmas matches kick off on Friday 23 December with Sale Sharks’ trip to Franklin’s Gardens. That match is followed by Wasps v Bath Rugby on Christmas Eve and Bristol Rugby hosting Worcester Warriors on Boxing Day, before the BT Sport cameras head to Twickenham Stadium.

The bumper offering at Christmas is complimented a few days later with three live matches being shown over the New Year weekend.

Newcastle Falcons host Wasps on Friday 30 December with Bath Rugby’s west country derby with Exeter Chiefs taking centre stage on New Year’s Eve. The weekend is topped off on New Year’s Day when Saracens make the trip to Welford Road.

“Our great relationship with BT Sport means we have been able to construct a compelling schedule over Christmas and New Year which will see live rugby on seven different days over the two weekends,” said Dominic Hayes the Commercial Director at Premiership Rugby.

“The season has already got off to a record-breaking start with more than one million viewers watching Aviva Premiership Rugby on the opening weekend on both BT Sport and ITV Sport.

“Attendances are rising, and for the first time this season Aviva Premiership Rugby is being broadcast in more than 200 countries around the world ensuring that more people than ever are watching the competition.”
