Leicester Tigers send support to French friends

Leicester Tigers send their sincerest condolences and support to everyone affected by the terrible events in Paris on Friday evening.

The Tigers and French league champions Stade Francais Paris opened this season's action in the European Rugby Champions Cup at Welford Road on Friday as the news unfolded.

Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE said: "Like the rest of the world, we are shocked and horrified by the events in Paris during Friday evening.

"In the club's 19-year history of European competition, the Tigers have made and continue to make many friends across the continent. We have shared some memorable occasions over the years with the Stade Francais club and one of our former players, Julien Dupuy, was in their team here on Friday.

"We send our condolences and support to all of our friends at Stade Francais and in their home city, and to anyone affected by Friday's events.

"Any Stade Francais supporters who remain in Leicester and Leicestershire can be assured of our support and the sympathy of the Tigers Family for as long as they continue their stay here. We all wish them a safe and peaceful journey home.”
