Josh Charnley Signs For Sale Sharks

JCharnley-Sale-3003

Sale Sharks are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Charnley from Wigan Rugby League Club.

Still only 24 years of age Josh has played 152 games for Wigan and scored an incredible 148 tries and kicked 94 goals (this Season 9 Appearances and 7 Tries, including a hat trick in Monday evening's win over Hull KR)

Born in Chorley Lancashire, Josh joined Wigan St Patricks before joining Wigan Warriors in 2010. Josh has also played for England Rugby League on 7 occasions and scored 8 tries.

During his time at Wigan Josh has won two Grand Finals (2010 & 2013), two Challenge Cup Medals (2011 & 2013) and has twice topped the Super League Top Try Scoring Register (2012 & 2013).

Commenting on the signing, Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said, "Josh is a great signing for us. He was schooled in the famous Wigan Academy and everyone I have spoken to rates him very highly. He has explosive pace and can play either full back or on the wing. The last big signing we made from Wigan back in 2000 was Jason Robinson and what impact he had. I am sure Josh will fit in perfectly with us at Sale Sharks and look forward to him joining us in the Autumn."
