Josh Beaumont named in England Squad

Sale Sharks are delighted to announce that Josh Beaumont has been named in Eddie Jones first England EPS Squad. Josh has been one of the most consistent players in the Aviva Premiership both last season and this season so far.

23 year old Josh made his debut against Montpellier in the Heineken Cup whilst still a student at Durham University and then made a starting position his own last season making 26 appearances in all.

This season Josh has been a stand out player for both Sharks and in the whole Aviva Premiership. On Friday evening he will captain the side for the first time in the European Challenge Cup game against Pau.

Speaking about his selection Josh said, "I am delighted and proud, not only as a Sale Sharks player but as a North West based player."

Josh also paid tribute to his Sharks team mates, "Last season Nathan Hines taught me so much about the line out and all the senior members of the squad like Jonathan Mills and Dan Braid have been a big influence."

Talking about his rugby career to date Josh said, "As a child growing up it was a dream of mine to play for England but when I went to University I was focussing on a career outside rugby. But since Steve Diamond signed me and gave me my chance, playing for my country has become my ambition."

Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said, "For the club, it’s fantastic. It dispels the fear that you need to leave Sharks to play for England. Josh has worked hard, and has come through the academy and is a credit to everything. I’ve always known he was going to make it, so we are really proud of him."
