Harlequins team to play Exeter Chiefs

Harlequins has announced the team to play Exeter Chiefs in the opening round of the Anglo-Welsh Cup, at The Stoop on Saturday, kick-off 17:30 (live on BT Sport).

The matchday squad combines youth with experience. In the backs, Nick Evans is named at fly-half, with Aaron Morris and James Lang making their debut and starting debut respectively.

Alofa Alofa, who this week signed a contract extension with the Club, starts on the wing with Charlie Walker.

The forward pack sees Dave Ward captain the side from openside flanker as Stan South makes his first appearance of the season.

Among the replacements, Mark Reddish, who joined the Club this week following his Mitre 10 Cup commitments with Wellington, joins Luc Jones as they both look to make their senior debuts.

Speaking ahead of the match John Kingston, Harlequins Director of Rugby, said: “This is a competition which has happy memories for both ourselves and Exeter Chiefs as we are both recent winners.

“This international period presents an opportunity for other members of the squad to put their hands up for selection.

“We compete for three trophies over a season and we will be doing our best to start this campaign strongly with the hope of returning to The Stoop in March for the final.”
