Harlequins can confirm today (Wednesday 31st August) the signing of Samoan international Alofa Alofa.
Confirming the news John Kingston, Harlequins Director of Rugby, said: “I am really pleased to have secured the signing of Alofa. He is a dynamic and powerful player with the ability to break the line.
“His versatility in being able to play outside centre and wing is an added bonus and I have no doubt our supporters will enjoy watching him when he puts on the Harlequins shirt.
“Alofa has been undertaking rigorous rehab over recent weeks and we are delighted that he has hit all the requisite markers.”
Beginning his career in rugby league with the Sydney Roosters, he made the switch to union in 2013. Scoring 13 tries for West Harbour throughout that season, he was called into the New South Wales Waratahs squad in 2014, scoring on his debut.
He then went on to play for La Rochelle in the Top 14 and has won three caps for Samoa.
Commenting on the news, Alofa said: “I’m grateful to Harlequins and John Kingston for giving me this exciting opportunity to play in the top tier of English rugby. Harlequins is an incredibly prestigious club and joining in its 150th year is a real honour.
“I’ve been with the group throughout the pre-season campaign and I can’t wait to pull on the jersey and do the Club and its supporters proud.”
