England squad update for Six Nations opener

England Head Coach Eddie Jones has released eight players back to their clubs ahead of this Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations opener against Scotland at Murrayfield (4.50pm).

Jones has retained a squad of 25 for the week ahead, which includes Maro Itoje (Saracens) and Elliot Daly (Wasps) who will travel to Edinburgh as reserves for the match day squad of 23.

Earlier this week, Jones said he "cannot wait" for the game at Murrayfield and added he has been impressed by the attitude of his players in the short time he has spent with them at the Pennyhill Park training base.

"We’ve done some good work and I’ve been really impressed with the players attitude, effort and want to make England into a winning team," he said.

"At this point we are moving in the right direction."

Jones is also aware of the welcome awaiting his side north of the border but says he is ready for the challenge.

"I’ve only been there (Murayfield) with Australia and Japan, it’s always a tricky place, they are canny the Scots. They always have little tricks up there sleeve so we need to be well prepared for it."
