Bath Rugby is pleased to confirm the signing of Scottish international back rower David Denton this week, subject to a medical.
The 25-year-old, who joins the Club from Edinburgh Rugby, has 32 caps for Scotland – most recently starting in their agonising one-point loss to Australia in the 2015 Rugby World Cup quarter-final.
Born in Zimbabwe, Denton played for Eastern Province in South Africa before moving to Scotland – the birthplace of his mother – to pursue his studies at Edinburgh University. Picked up by Edinburgh Rugby in 2010, Denton made 78 appearances for the Pro12 side, of which he started an impressive 74.
Standing at 6’5” and weighing close to 19 stone, Denton is a strong ball-carrying option and possesses an athleticism that saw him represent Scotland 7s prior to making his full international debut in 2011.
"We’ve been looking to bolster our back row for some time now so we’re very excited that David is joining us," said Bath Rugby Head Coach Mike Ford. "He had an excellent World Cup, especially in the quarter-final when he managed to outshine one of the best Australian back rows I’ve seen for a long time. He’s going to fit in very well with the team and the way we play here."
