Aviva Presents Rugby Matters

To mark the climax to a thrilling Aviva Premiership Rugby season, title sponsor Aviva has released ‘Rugby Matters’, a unique and powerful documentary that weaves together five different stories that demonstrate the power of rugby.

The 17-minute documentary released on Aviva UK’s YouTube channel alongside five individual short films and due to be shown at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final, stars Bath Rugby duo George and Mike Ford, who will be competing in this week’s semi-finals as Bath host Leicester Tigers at The Rec. They are joined by Wasps and England legend Lawrence Dallaglio, GB Wheelchair Rugby captain Steve Brown and a Sevens team. There will also be a follow-up short film released next week about Ben Muddle, a Northampton Saints super fan who will be cheering his beloved team on against Saracens at Franklin’s Gardens in the semi-finals on Saturday.

At the heart of each of their stories is the steadfast community spirit in rugby that is a force of good across all walks of life, no matter what level you play at, whether it’s grassroots or Aviva Premiership Rugby.

In the build-up to the expected sell-out Aviva Premiership Rugby Final, the stars of the documentary show that they are united by their love of and dedication to the game, and for the first time they open up about why rugby really matters. They give an exclusive look at the role that rugby plays in their lives, exploring how the sport affects them and the communities around them for the better – whether it’s a family, a club, a group of fans or a team of friends who have joined together to raise awareness and support for a cause close to their hearts.

Fans can access the documentary and all of the individual stories online, and can also watch the full length version on the big screen in the West Car Park at Twickenham following the conclusion of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final on Saturday 30th May.

Aviva’s ambition was not only to create a film that demonstrates why rugby matters to those featured, but to demonstrate the possibilities within the sport to ignite a desire to give back to the community and get involved in rugby – whether that’s playing, volunteering or watching from grassroots all the way up to Aviva Premiership Rugby.
