Aviva Premiership Rugby live on BT Sport at Christmas

Harlequins’ Big Game 8 will be shown live on BT Sport Premiership Rugby can confirm today. They take on Gloucester Rugby at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday 27 December.

Giving supporters and clubs as much notice as possible, the announcement of the TV selections at Christmas and New Year comes more than 10 weeks before the matches take place.

Harlequins' traditional trip 'over the road' to the home of English rugby is the final game of the Christmas weekend, kicking off at 4.30pm, the second part of a cracking double header on BT Sport as they are also showing Wasps v Saracens at 2pm on the same day.

Starting the Christmas weekend live on BT Sport is Northampton Saints' trip to London Irish on Boxing Day at 2.30pm.

Saints will also welcome in the New Year at Franklin's Gardens with BT Sport showing a bumper selection of four live matches in the first weekend of 2016.

Saints entertain Exeter Chiefs at 3pm on New Year's Day, followed by Saracens v Leicester Tigers (3.15pm) and Sale Sharks v Wasps (5.30pm) on 2 January.

The New Year treat of four live matches in one weekend is completed on Sunday 3 January when Harlequins make the trip west to Sixways to take on newly-promoted Worcester Warriors at 3pm.

In the final set of matches in this announcement, Bath Rugby take centre stage on Friday 8 January when they play Sale Sharks (7.45pm). The East Midlands derby – between Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints – will come into the spotlight a day later at 3.15pm, with the second weekend of live coverage of 2016 ending in Reading where London Irish host Newcastle Falcons.

"We'd like to thank BT Sport for joining us in putting supporters first with this announcement as we know how important it is for fans to plan their Christmas and New Year holidays," said Premiership Rugby's Commercial Director Dominic Hayes.

"The list takes in three weeks of the season when there are some of the biggest club games in the world taking place and when we expect bumper crowds to attend the Aviva Premiership Rugby matches."

Saturday 26th December, 2:30pm: London Irish v Northampton Saints – Madejski Stadium
Sunday 27th December, 2pm: Wasps v Saracens – Ricoh Arena
