Aviva Premiership Rugby on BT Sport and ITV Sport

Records were broken, early markers were set, and a host of scintillating tries were scored as Aviva Premiership Rugby exploded back onto our screens last week.

The action continues this weekend, with BT Sport’s Friday Night Lights coverage once again beginning at 7pm on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 4K UHD as Worcester Warriors take on Gloucester Rugby with both sides looking for their first wins of the season.

Warriors have slipped to five straight defeats in Aviva Premiership Rugby, while David Humphreys’ men have not lost their opening two fixtures of the season since 2013-14.

Saturday’s clash at Welford Road will be broadcast live on BT Sport 3, BT Sports 4K UHD and BT Sport Red Button from 2.30pm, as two top-four sides from last season lock horns when Leicester Tigers welcome Wasps.

Leicester have won their last six home games at Welford Road in all tournaments since Sale Sharks won there in February. Wasps have not won at the venue since 2008 but the visitors’ 36-24 victory when the sides met at the Ricoh Arena in March ended a four-game winning run by their now near neighbours in this fixture.

Another grandstand clash awaits on Sunday, as the weekend is rounded off by a repeat of last season’s Aviva Premiership Rugby Final. Exeter Chiefs host Saracens at Sandy Park with coverage beginning at 2.30pm on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 4K UHD. The game can also be viewed free on BT Sport Showcase which is available on Freeview channel 59.

Exeter have never begun an Aviva Premiership Rugby season with a pair of defeats. And the only side to have beaten Rob Baxter’s men on home soil since January 2015 is Saracens, who won 11-14 last February – one of three league victories over Exeter last season.

Should you miss out on the live action, BT Sport and ITV will once again be showing highlights programmes throughout the season.

Catch every score from the opening two days on BT Sport 1 at 9pm on Saturday, while ITV’s highlights – hosted by Mark Durden-Smith and David Flatman – will be on air on Sunday at 9pm (ITV4) and 11.20pm (ITV), and Tuesday at midnight (ITV4), covering all six matches.

And don’t forget Rugby Tonight is also back in its usual Wednesday evening slot at 8pm, as the BT Sport team review the week in rugby with a selection of Aviva Premiership Rugby guests.
